Ruth Clacey-Roberts

Ruth leads our quality assurance and client experience functions, ensuring ibex gale clients experience the highest standards of service. She also has significant experience conducting complex and sensitive investigations.

Her case work often includes investigating allegations of breakdown of working relationships, workplace bullying, discrimination (including victimisation and harassment), whistleblowing and serious misconduct.  

Ruth oversees many of our most complex cases and has particular expertise in managing cases under the Maintaining High Professional Standards within the Modern NHS / Upholding Professional Standards in Wales frameworks. 


Examples of Ruth’s recent work include: 

  • Complex UPSW investigation regarding serious conduct allegations relating to a doctor for a Health Board.  
  • Extensive and highly complex fact-finding investigation into serious concerns of modern slavery, fraud and bullying. 
  • Investigation for a national authority into two connected, detailed and complex grievances involving allegations relating to an internal investigation, including allegations of collusion. 
  • Investigation into a detailed grievance involving a number of allegations brought by an individual against their colleagues who were partners in a private company.  
  • Hearing and determining (by way of delegated authority) of a ‘some other substantial reason’ matter relating to the breakdown of working relationships between colleagues.  

Background

Ruth started her career as an employment lawyer, working in large and international law firms in both England and Wales, working with public sector (NHS, local authority and education) clients as well as those in the private sector. She has extensive experience of providing strategic advice in employment relations matters and the full range of employment law issues and as part of litigation processes. Ruth’s work as a lawyer had a particular focus on complex whistleblowing and discrimination litigation. Ruth also frequently delivered training on employment law issues.
